Nostalgia: Reward at Rothwell
In 1979, achievements in agriculture at the world-renowned Rothwell Plant Breeders were rewarded.
The Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Mr H N Neville presented the Queen’s Award for Technological Achievement to Joseph Nickerson, the company’s president and founder.
The award was made for their spring barley programme, which produced varieties with significant yield advantages coupled with good disease resistance.
