Wentworth Castle Gardens, near Barnsley, is the venue for the first coach trip to be organised this summer by the Wragby Community Gardening Club, on Sunday June 14, which includes a visit to Wentworth Garden Centre,

The cost is £20, all inclusive, and as there are currently some spare seats available, this trip is open to non-members too.

For information and to book call Carole on 01673 858165.

There was a good attendance of members at the last club meeting in the Town Hall, when the speaker was Dr Rachel Petheram.

Her topic - Cutting Gardens’ - Hints for flower growing - which proved to be fascinating and was delivered in a delightful, easy manner.

Dr Petheram specialises in English grown flowers and grows most of hers in the walled kitchen garden at Doddington Hall near Lincoln.

A lecturer at both Doddington Hall and RHS Harlow Carr, she is passionate about natural seasonal flowers and producing flowers in a sustainable way.

A lively question and answer session followed with lots of participation from the members to end not just a lovely evening, but a very successful winter session of monthly meetings too.

Arrangements were finalised for the first of the outdoor meetings - a garden visit by invitation of member Clare Lee on Tuesday June 10.
