Lu Coultas was welcomed to the March meeting, a member of Lincoln Castle Garrison who was dressed in a replica medieval costume to give a fascinating talk entitled ‘Dyeing on the Lawn’.
She spoke of the ingredients used to dye fabrics and wool, passing round examples to touch and smell.
Her daughters, also in costumes, demonstrated stick weaving, with members enjoying having a go.
The competition for a piece of old fabric was won by Wendy Handford, with Jane Starling second and Margaret Roach third.
Flower of the month was won by Charlotte Linsell, with Wendy Handford second and Linda Mason third. And Charlotte also won the draw for a bursary to be used for an educational course of her choice.
The next meeting is on April 2 in the town hall at 7.30pm, when Paul Scott will give an illustrated talk on Sir Joseph Banks.
