Theatre’s planning for the future

ANOTHER sell-out performance at the Broadbent theatre on Sunday, September 25 marked the run-up to the iconic venue’s 40th year.

Northumberland touring company performed Tartuffe to an ecstatic capacity audience and the recent introduction of new technology and an online booking system has brought the historic venue right up to date.

Patrick Markham, the webmaster, said: “Booking is so easy now. We have invested in the latest technology to enable secure on line payments at no extra charge.

“Beating the queue and ensuring a seat at another sell-out performance makes the whole experience worthwhile.”

Further plans to make the theatre sustainable for the next 40 years and beyond include looking into the feasibility of matching up people to share lifts and an upgraded heating and insulating scheme to help keep down costs, saving fuel and carbon emissions.

The theatre’s next show is on October 16, when Caroline Horton performs You’re Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy.

Advance booking is always recommended to avoid a wasted journey either by the new on line system at or phoning 01673 885500.
