Willy Russell’s award-winning comedy Educating Rita comes to the Broadbent Theatre in Wickenby this weekend.
Susan, who initially calls herself Rita, dissatisfied with the routine of her work and social life, seeks inner growth by signing up to an Open University course in English Literature. Rita’s Tutor, Frank, is a middle-aged alcoholic academic who has taken on the tutorship to pay for his drink.
The two have an immediate and profound effect on one another.
The play tells of Rita’s development and growth as she is ‘educated’ and the effect the process has on Frank and his attitude to education and his own life.
Hambledon productions present Educating Rita at The Broadbent on Saturday, April 6, at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £8 and £7 from 01673 885500.
The play can also be seen at Louth Riverhead Theatre on April 10 and May 4, Caistor Town Hall on May 5 and Grimsby’s Caxton Theatre on May 8.
