The New Year is, as ever, getting off to a quacking start in Middle Rasen as the village hosts its annual Duck Race.

Starting at midday on New Year’s Day from the Rase Bridge in Low Church Road, Middle Rasen, the race lasts around 20 minutes and finishes at the Church Street Bridge.

Although a few ducks will be available for sale on the day, ducks may be purchased in advance at the Crossroads Stores in Middle Rasen, from the Nags Head or online at

Proceeds from duck sales go to help fund local sport through Middle Rasen’s Cricket and Football Club.

Ducks cost £1 and if your duck is in the first three or last three to cross the finishing line you are a winner. Prizes this year are £100 (first duck), £50 (second), £25 (third) and £10 each for the last three ducks to finish.

Refreshments will be available after the event at the Nags Head.
