This week’s Blues Session at the Hope Tavern at Holton le Moor will see the visit of another of the “big” band sounds , but this time Yorkshire based band, the Tom Gee Band.
And this band plays a truly British R’n’B with additional brass that encapsulates blues, soul and funk at it’s very best, all performed in a style described as a “sweet and mellow laid back, late night groove with meandering guitar passages expressing a definite jazz influence”.
Performing together for four years now, they are an extremely tight and capable outfit with Tom Gee taking the lead vocalist and guitarist role and writing most of the lyrics and music showing quite a gift for words.
They have toured the UK extensively appearing at the major festivals and such venues as; The Hi Fi and Wardrobe clubs in Leeds, and The Troubadour,100 Club, O2 Arena and The Royal Albert Hall in London.
This band is one of a long line of exciting top young Bands to visit the Hope Tavern and following the fabulous Hitman Blues band, it will be interesting to compare the British “young guns” with the experienced Americans .
The gig starts at 4pm on Sunday, November 9, and the door charge is £8.
