The cliché about singers sounding like angels certainly came to fruition when the Divas sang at the Caistor Arts and Heritage Centre recently.
They performed a varied programme of Christmas music from Vivaldi to Bing Crosby, via spirituals, with such obvious enjoyment for themselves and to the audience and their arrangements added a new dimension to well known songs.
Credit must be paid to their accompanist Steven Maxson for many of the arrangements and also for the magnificent way he played in the background.
The Divas were superb as they crisply hit the notes with no sliding up to the notes. Every word could be heard clearly without the aid of microphones.
The sound was of gentle, controlled power.
Watch out for their return visit.
