CROWDS filled Market Rasen Racecourse on Sunday, not only for some of the country’s best racing action, but for the chance to catch a glimpse of the X Factor stars.
Singing sensations Paije Richardson and Aiden Grimshaw performed and Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer introduced his new band, Archer, which was performing for just the second time.
The Rasen Mail caught up with the stars backstage before the gig, and while Aiden was warming up with a range of vocal exercises in the toilet this newspaper had a chat with Jamie Archer about how his life has changed since his last performance in Market Rasen a year ago.
“It’s been a strange year. It’s been more important than even the X Factor year in many ways,” he said.
“We are here though playing live and the people of Market Rasen are going to see exactly what we have been doing in the last year. We’ve got the band here and we’ve got some new music for them.
“We are going to be playing our new single, which is out for pre-order before a full release on August 15, so it is very nerve-racking.”
Jamie said that the new single, Insanity, is a world away from the music of X Factor and his band Archer were focusing on “good old rock’n’roll.”
“It’s great to be back on the road and with the X Factor guys. It’s almost like coming home, but it’s really great to be making the music I always wanted to make,” he added.
“We are working on songs as we go. People are buying tracks in different ways to just singles and albums nowadays so we may might look at releasing a few EPs, but there may be an album out at the end of the year.
“At the moment we just want people to see the live show and to put on the best live experience in the country.”
Paige Richardson said he was also looking to release a single this summer.
And the day was enjoyed by Kathryn Neve, from North Kelsey, the Rasen Mail’s X Factor competition winner, who got the chance to meet and greet the stars backstage before they performed.
Music fans will now be looking forward to the next Rasen Rocks race day on Saturday, August 20, when Peter Andre will perform.
