Irish troubadour Frank returns

CELEBRATE St Patrick’s Day – albeit a day early – in the company of an international Irish country music star.

Frank McCaffrey makes a welcome return to Market Rasen Methodist Church on Friday, March 16.

The songster’s previous visits to the town have been well received and he is sure to be a hit on this occasion too.

From Westport in Co Mayo, Frank started his musical career at an early age and formed his first band while still at school.

When he left school, he joined a local band‚ The Beatminstrels‚ and then later The Frielmen.

In 1970, he turned professional and began playing bass guitar in Margo and the Country Folk – a band featuring Daniel O’Donnell’s sister.

Five years later he left to form his own band‚ Band of Gold.

In 1983 Frank made the decision to become a solo artist and was signed to Ritz records.

He has toured throughout Ireland, as well as England, Europe and America.

The concert on March 16 starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £8 each, which includes a cuppa and a bite to eat during the interval.

Frank will have his many CDs and DVDs on sale in the break too.
