THIS Sunday’s Blues session at the Hope Tavern brings a Leicester based outfit that’s been treading the boards of UK Blues venues for over a decade and it shows.
Regular performers at midland venues such as the Musician and Legends club, Mick Ridgeway’s Mojo Hand returns to the Tavern with a history of good revues in the music press.
With the ease and confidence developed over the years, in a style reminiscent of George Thorogood, frontman Mick Ridgeway performs stylish, ‘laid back’ Chicago Blues, R&B, even Rockabilly classics and original material that should make for a great afternoon of music and entertainment.
With Mick on Harp and vocals, and guest Al Sansome on electric guitar and slide, this band’s style illustrates the development of Chicago Blues from the acoustic based Delta style – still plenty of harp but certainly more hard hitting, foot tapping stuff, driven by a well honed rhythm section.
The gig at the Holton le Moor venue starts at 4pm and the door charge is £6.
