The Horncastle and District Royal British Legion have joined forces with two local choirs to raise funds for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Coningsby Military Wives Choir and Horncastle-based Papillon will perform at a Gala Concert in St Mary’s Church, Horncastle on Friday May 6.
The Coningsby RAF-based Military Wives Choir was formed, as were many such choirs, following that created by Gareth Malone on his popular television programme.
Indeed, most military bases now have a choir.
Papillon, the Horncastle based A Cappella choir, has supported the Poppy Appeal before, singing last year at the Cream Tea fundraiser at Horncastle Grammar School.
“We are delighted that both choirs have agreed to sing at the Gala Concert and support the Poppy Appeal,” said Julian Millington, Horncastle and District Poppy Appeal Organiser.
“Both choirs are different, but I am sure will complement each other.
“The choirs will each sing two sets, either side of an interval, and the concert will end with them singing together.”
The concert starts at 7.30pm, with tickets £10 each, including refreshments, from The Music Shop, Bullring, Horncastle or Julian on 07985 372871.
