St Cecilia is the patron saint of music, so what could be better than having a concert on her name day, Sunday November 22.
Market Rasen and District Choral Society will be celebrating the power of music with a programme inspired by St Cecilia, including two very different settings of Dryden’s famous ‘Ode to St Cecilia’,
The concert will start with Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music - a magical setting of words from Shakespeare’s play ‘The Merchant of Venice’
The soprano soloist, Chloe Saywell, comes from Claxby and attended De Aston School.
She will be joined by tenor Gareth Lloyd and, in addition to their parts in the choral pieces, they will be singing a selection of songs they have chosen specially for the occasion.
The concert, in Market Rasen Methodist Chapel, starts at 2pm, with tickets £10 on the door.
