A county-wide music festival is coming to Market Rasen this month.
The relationship between music and literature is the focus for this year’s Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival and next Tuesday, August 11, the international prize-winning Benyounes Quartet come to the Market Rasen Methodist Church.
The concert, entitled The Last Word, will feature two huge works in the chamber repertoire – Beethoven’s last quartet (Op.135) and Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words of our Saviour on the Cross”.
For this huge composition, commissioned by the Cathedral of Cadiz in 1786, Haydn was rewarded with a cake filled with gold coins.
The full festival programme, which runs from August 10 to 15, can be found on the LICMF website www.licmf.org.uk
Tickets for the Market Rasen concert, starting at 7.30pm, are available from The Gift Horse at 32 Queen Street or call them on 01673 842535.
