Award-winning folk/acoustic duo Gilmore & Roberts are hitting the road for a major headline tour this autumn, coming to Kirton Town Hall Live on Sunday, September 22.
Following last year’s release of their critically acclaimed third album ‘The Innocent Left’ on Navigator Records, the duo, who have had a successful year of extensive touring packed with festival appearances.
Katriona Gilmore (The Albion Band) and Jamie Roberts (Kerfuffle) have been working together since 2006, combining folk roots with a contemporary twist to deliver a powerful sound.
Ranging from hard-hitting to fragile, encompassing elements of folk, bluegrass and rock, their songs explore many and varied topics but remain consistently bound by the Yorkshire-based pair’s passion for storytelling.
And 2013 has already delivered a stack of accolades - among them, a nomination for ‘Best Duo’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and first prize in the Acoustic/Folk category at the UK Songwriting Contest, as well as a special feature and interview on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
Support at Kirton in Lindsey comes from The Storm Trees and there is also a special guest slot from Leeds singer/songwriter, and member of Kushty Rye, Des Horsfall.
