MARKET Rasen Choral Society welcomes two well-known soloists to join them at this Saturday’s performance of Sounds of Lincolnshire.
The evening includes John Gladwin’s Fantasia Lindum and a new work by Rowland Lee – Requiem.
Andrew Bain sang the tenor solo in the Russian première of Requiem in Saint Petersburg last year, with the Mikhailovsky Theatre Opera Choir and the St Petersburg Academic Symphony Orchestra.
He originally studied to be a dentist before embarking on a professional singing career and his work in opera and musical theatre includes the parts of The Duke in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Tony in West Side Story.
He is interested in ‘classical crossover’, combining classical singing with popular music and is probably best known for his solo album with SonyBMG.
Also performing at the concert will be mezzo-soprano Julia Riley.
Having studied at the Royal School of Music, Julia has worked with English Touring Opera, Glyndebourne and Scottish Opera and will be singing Dorabella in Mozart’s ‘Cosi Fan Tutte’ for Opera Holland Park, as well as covering the title role in Handel’s ‘Guilio Cesare’ for Opera North.
Unfortunately, the Hallgate Orchestra is unable to play, so accompaniment for Sounds of Lincolnshire will be by the South Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra
The performance of Sounds of Lincolnshire starts at 7.30pm on May 12, in De Aston Sports Hall.
Tickets can be bought from Priceless and the Gift Horse in Market Rasen and the Post Office in Caistor as well as from any member of the choir.
