The Steel Rooms in Brigg hosts an acoustic concert this Saturday, May 7.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start, when duo Robyn and Jack will perform a combination of original music and covers. Cost is £5 per head and a licensed bar is available. For tickets call in to the Steel Rooms or ring 01652 657256.
The popular venue also features well known local artist Dale Mackie in May as he brings together drawings and paintings of Lincolnshire’s three major industries which, in recent years, have faced struggles to survive.
North Lincolnshire’s population at one time depended on the production of steel in the Scunthorpe area, working on the land or trawling on the high seas.
There are now only a handful of trawlers that sail from the port of Grimsby where once hundreds sailed.
The rich Lincolnshire farmland is also threatened at times as has been the steel industry.
The exhibition of charcoal drawings and vivid paintings will depict the industries at the height of their production.
His work on contemporary images of iconic scenes stresses the toughness and hardness demanded by industry and the men and women themselves.
