Models harking back to the days of steam

ENJOY the nostalgic days of steam in model form this bank holiday.

An extensive model railway can be seen in the Hayloft, at the rear of 1 North Marsh Road in Gainsborough, this Sunday, May 29, and Monday, May 30, from 2pm to 6pm.

On show will be models of the 9F and WD large freight locos that used to pull the long goods trains along the line through Gainsborough.

There will also be many models of express passenger locos, represented by Sir Nigel Gresley’s A4s and Flying Scotsman, Sir William Stannier’s Duchess class Pacifics of the LMS, Bulleids Pacifics of the Southern railway and the Great Western Collet Castles etc.

This large collection has been built up over the last 60 years can be seen on a large OO layout, which measures 30-feet by 20-feet.

There are also two smaller layouts depicting OO gauge modern image electrics and Mamod live steam plus Hornby ‘O’ gauge clockwork of the 1950s.

Admission to the Hayloft is £2 for adults and £1 for children.
