Our Big Gig is set to be Market Rasen’s biggest ever music festival - and it all happens this Saturday, July 13.
The free day of live music and activities will see local bands take to the stage in various venues throughout the town from 10am to 12pm.
The majority of the action will be in and around Market Rasen’s Market Place and The Chase pub, with other concerts and workshops taking place in Festival Hall, the Salvation Army Hall and the Methodist Chapel.
The Chase pub landlord Brian Sankey is organising the event.
He said: “It’s going to be the biggest music festival Market Rasen has seen for a long time.
“I’m really excited, we’ve got lots of local groups and wonderful musicians involved, there really will be something for everyone.”
The event is part of a national initiative to bring music to communities throughout the country.
Our Big Gig is taking place due to funding secured from the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and Arts Council England.
Additional funding has been secured from West Lindsey District Council.
Among the songmakers taking part is Da Capo folk group, who will be holding a workshop in the Methodist church from 10am to 12.15pm.
People can join the folk group to create accompaniments to two folk songs ready to perform in the church at 12pm.
Whether you can sing, play an instrument or want to try your hand at being a percussionist, you can join in the fun.
