A MAGICAL show that lets wild imaginings run is coming to Market Rasen’s Festival Hall on Saturday, November 12 from 2pm to 4pm.
Liminal State Theatre’s production of The Book of Dreams is a show and creative arts workshop for children aged five to 11-years.
The Book of Dreams captures and harnesses children’s imaginary creativity and ability to make anything possible.
Artistic director John Aspill explains: “In this age of the computer game and television, children are used to sitting in front of screens and waiting for things to happen. The show’s participative nature means that they are joining in with the action and becoming part of it.”
Sean the Shanachie, the storyteller, uses circus skills, mime, puppetry, physicality and music to take children on an interactive journey to far off places using the power of the imagination; conquering stormy oceans, out-witting a tribe of trolls, and befriending a wild fox.
John said: “It is very playful, very comical, and uses fantasy and dreams, providing lovely opportunities to use puppetry which children love.”
The show combines three classic stories and poems: De Saint Exupéry’s The Little Prince, Ibsen’s Peer Gynt and Browning’s The Pied Piper of Hamlin with humour, music, bright colours and high energy.
He said: “Children see that being an individual is important, but if they work together with other children they can create a huge ocean, or a great army of rats. Just before the show the children participate in a drama workshop which gets them into character and allows them to practise in preparation for their roles.
Ticket prices are as follows: £8.50 one adult and one child, £11.50 one adult and two children, £16 one adult and three children, £20 one adult and four children. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
