WOULD-be romantic novelists can make a date this Valentine’s Day with a top author when she pays a visit to Brigg.
Kate Walker has published 59 novels with Harlequin Mills and Boon and will be leading a workshop for budding writers at The Angel in Brigg.
For the past five years her recent titles have all been on the Booktrack Top 100 list in America, and they have also been on the Borders Top Ten list for at least two weeks.
She also has books that have been awarded the Reviewers’ Choice Best Presents Extra by the American magazine Romantic Times.
This workshop is intended to provide information and advice for anyone who wants to learn how to write a popular novel, providing skills needed for success, from initial research to the final submission.
While the focus may be on romance novels, the techniques including dialogue, characters, tension, pacing and settings will also be relevant to all forms of popular fiction.
Coun Carl Sherwood, cabinet member for corporate and community services at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This workshop is a great example of what’s on offer at local libraries, with the last one being a real success.
“We are fortunate that Kate is local to the area. Budding writers should take advantage of this opportunity to speak to an expert in her field.”
The workshop can also be enjoyed by anyone just wanting to come along and have fun, even those with no writing experience.
The event takes place on Tuesday, February 14 from 1.30pm to 4.30pm at the Ballroom, The Angel, Brigg.
Tickets cost £7 per person and are available in advance from Ashby, Brigg and Scunthorpe libraries, Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
