STARGAZERS are invited to a party in the woods near Wragby.
The Forestry Commission’s Autumn Star Party at Chambers Farm Wood on Saturday, September 24 will see people from around the county gaze at the Milky Way through powerful telescopes.
Due to light pollution many people have never seen the Milky Way and can only glimpse a handful of stars from their homes. But in Chambers Wood a starry night is still a spectacle to behold.
Education ranger Mary Porter said: “There are thousands of stars visible and the Milky Way is a shimmering band across the sky.
“It’s really quite awe-inspiring.”
Horncastle-based astronomer Paul Money will lead the event and will be joined by other experts to point out stars clusters, constellations and view galaxies millions of light years away.
The event runs from 7.30pm to 10.30pm at the Chambers Farm Wood Centre, off the B1202 Bardney to Wragby road.
Tickets cost £5 and early booking is advised.
