GORGEOUS gardens and perfect plants will be on offer next month at the annual Market Rasen Open Gardens and Summer Market.
The town’s open gardens event always attracts large numbers of people from across the county and beyond, and this year’s event, on Saturday, August 4, is set to be bigger and better, boasting a record number of stalls, as well as an art exhibition and sale.
Gardens of all shapes and sizes – 11 in total – will be open throughout the town from 10am-4pm.
In the town centre, the garden of The Foyer and the Holy Rood Church allotments will both be on show, and the church will also be hosting their summer fete from 11am-3pm.
Members of Market Rasen Water Colour Group are incorporating their annual exhibition, alongside a number of individual artists from the local area, at the exhibition in the Festival Hall, where there will also be a number of craft stalls.
And the Market Place will be awash with stalls offering a range of gardening products, a selection of food outlets and more from 9am.
The event this year has been organised entirely by volunteers – led by members of the local Rotary Club.
“One of our aims as a Rotary Club is to support the local community and by so doing promote cohesion between businesses, the townspeople and visitors within the Market Rasen area,” said Rotary president Derek Anderson.
“The Market Rasen Open Gardens event spreads throughout the whole town, offering something for everyone, and we hope residents and visitors alike will enjoy it.”
Entry to the market and Festival Hall is free, with a £3 admission to view the gardens. Buy your sticker at the open gardens stall in the Market Place or at any of the gardens – balloons and numbers will be on display at each property and guides can be picked up on the day, or at many town shops beforehand.
