Brigg Operatic Society has a busy year ahead culminating in the autumn production - that was the message at their annual general meeting.
And it was announced the autumn production will be the popular Rodgers and Hammerstein show South Pacific.
Rehearsals start on Monday, May 13, in St John’s Church Hall at 7.30pm under the direction of Musical Director Simon Percy.
“Anyone who is interested in joining or is just curious to see what is involved is more than welcome to come along,” said chairman Peter Barnes.
“The ability to sing is a useful but not essential asset, as there are roles for non-singers plus a myriad of off-stage and behind the scenes jobs which have to be done.”
Currently, the Society is rehearsing for a series of four concerts being presented over the next two months.
The first is in Scawby Village Hall this Friday, April 26, at 7.30pm, with profits being shared with the ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’ charity.
The cast includes two teenage members who will be leaving this autumn to continue their musical education.
Rachel Kendall, whose principal instrument is the Saxophone, has obtained a Scholarship to the Birmingham Conservatoire; she is also a member of the North Lincs Youth Orchestra.
Katie Graham has won a place at the Andrew Lloyd Webber Arts Educational School in London.
In the last few years she has played several leading roles for the Society and is also a member of Scunthorpe Operatic Society.
She has also just successfully auditioned for the role of Nancy in this summer’s APG Experience production of Oliver at Grimsby Auditorium.
