Glastonbury comes to Brigg this weekend as the town is set to rock to music in a new arts and music festival.
‘Art in Brigg Market Place’ is a new initiative by Brigg Business partnership.
The free event takes place in the market place bandstand this Saturday, July 13, and takes the form of a mini live arts marathon in the Band Stand as part of the National Marathon Bandstand weekend.
Jane Kitching for the Brigg Business partnership said: “On Saturday Brigg Town Business Partnership present “art from the ‘art” part of Our Big Gig, formerly known as The National Bandstand Marathon, an entertaining marathon of live arts from the market place in the heart of Brigg.”
This free event starts at 10am, continuing to around 4pm.
Local talented exponents of live arts will be showcased, in 20-minute slots, including singers, musicians, poets and comedians, performing aspects of music and entertainment from folk, rock, acoustic and popular music through to Gilbert and Sullivan and back again.
Like Glastonbury, this is an open-air event, so take a chair and waterproof clothing just in case.
“We are encouraging visitors to make a full day of their visit, perhaps including a shopping experience in our friendly shops - 80 per cent of which are independently owned,” added Jane.
“Don’t forget our two-hour free parking.”
And Jane confirmed the play list is almost full, so those who feel they have something to say or play should contact Ian Cuttell at Pastimes on 01652 653500 .
