This Sunday’s Blues Session at the Hope Tavern, Holton le Moor, sees the return of the southern based quartet Blue Bishops.
Working at the rocky end of R+B and Blues, at the same time the band is acknowledged for the sensitivity and dynamics of performance that can go from a whisper to a roar in just a few moments.
This ‘straddling’ of different genres is in part due to the different influences within the current and past line-ups.
And while The Bishops are not averse to covering a classic or two if they can put a distinctive slant on it, the majority of their material is original.
The current line-up brings together Geoff Grange, ever present lead vocalist; Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Jim Rodford on bass, formerly of Argent, the Kinks and the Animals; Justin Hildreth on drums, and founder Simon Burrett on guitar and vocals.
Gig starts at 4pm on June 15 and the door charge is £8.
