South Kelsey humbled by talented league leaders

South Kelsey Cricket Club’s 1st Xl went down to a six-wicket win defeat away to Scothern at the weekend.

This was no real surprise as Scothern are clear leaders and unbeaten in Division 1. Sri Lankan all rounder Chandi Wathukarage top scored for Kelsey with 29, but their total of 95 all out set the home side no real target.

But that man Chandi took 2-30 to at least ensure Kelsey took one bowling bonus point from the match.

In Division 2 there was a good eight wicket win for Keelby at home to Lincoln team Hartsholme 2nds, veteran Graham Avison taking 4-52 for the villagers and Steve Skipworth scoring 43.

In Division 3 there was a tonic home win for Kelsey 2nds by five wickets at home to Barton 2nds, Andy Stockdale taking 5-15 and Rob Dennis cracking 52.

In Division 4 bottom-placed Caistor 3rds did very well with the bat, Dave Gowshall and Peter Jacob both posting half-centuries, but home side Holton-le-Clay 2nds knocked off a target approaching 200.

Keelby 2nds are also still lowly placed in the table following a reverse at the hands of Alford 2nds, although Andy Sharp hit a good 63 for Keelby.

Scores for our local sides were:

South Kelsey 95, lost to Scothern 99 for four by six wickets.
