Second defeat in two for Caistor

Caistor 1st team suffered their second defeat in successive weekends in the Lincolnshire Premier League when they went down at home by nine wickets to Cleethorpes 2nds.

After defeat to Scunthorpe Town on the opening day of the season Caistor hoped to pick up points from the ‘Meggies’ when they visited Brigg Road.

Skipper Peter Briggs was ill and unable to play and the side certainly missed his batting at the top of the order when wickets began to tumble.

Cleethorpes won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Caistor were all out for a mere 70, all ten wickets falling in 32.4 overs with Rob Brice doing the main damage with five wickets for 12 runs.

Cleethorpes had no trouble in reaching their target in only 18 overs, only losing one wicket in the process.

Caistor 2nd were without a game while the 3rd team went down in the remarkable high scoring game at Rase Park with Market Rasen 2nds.

This Saturday sees Caistor 1st without a game as they have a bye in the opening round of the George Marshall Cup that they won last season.

Caistor 2nd Xl are away at Nettleham in Division 2 while the 3rd team are at home to Morton in Division 4.

In the North Lindsey League played on Sundays, Caistor are away at Grimsby Town.
