THE England Women’s Cricket team take on the RAF Men’s team in a charity match at Louth this week.
This is the first time the two teams have met and the match is part of East Lindsey District Council’s East Lindsey Live programme.
The RAF XI are the Armed Forces T20 cricket champions for the second year running, beating the Navy and Army in a triangular tournament at Lords and they will provide the England team with ideal practice before they jet off to Sri Lanka for the Women’s T20 World Championships.
The match takes place on Thursday, August 16, at the London Road Sports Ground, starting at 1.30pm.
There will be a 30 minute break in between innings and the event is due to end at about 6pm.
Entry to the ground is free, but a donation of £5 would be welcomed, with all proceeds being split equally between Breast Cancer Care and The RAF Benevolent Fund.
Spectators, who are advised to bring a garden chair or a deck chair, will find ample refreshments at the ground.
A further fund-raising event for the two charities will be held following the match - a charity dinner at Kenwick Park, including music, a comedian and a question-and-answer session with England captain Charlotte Edwards. Call 01507 608806 for tickets.
