Returning to action after another week without a game, Market Rasen’s Sunday XI faced Bassingham CC at Rase Park.

Batting first, the visitors lost early wickets to Fussey and Darke who restricted them to 59-2 from the opening exchanges.

The bowling responsibilities were shared around the pitch as eight bowlers turned their arms over during the day.

The stand-out from these was the returning Simon Bunn, bowling for the first time since a back injury had threatened his cricketing career. Bunn returned figures of 3 for 12 from 4.4 overs.

Bowling out Bassingham for 140 in just 34.4 overs, Rasen felt confident the total was gettable on a good, flat track.

Openers Seb Darke and Charlie Scales built a wonderful partnership of 60 before Scales was bowled by the impressive Nick Proctor.

Entering the batting line-up at number three, Jamie Snell never looked to trouble the score in his 13-ball duck.

Building on their recent excellent stand at Old Lincolnians, Darke and James Fussey put on 65 for the third wicket and raced the home side to their target inside 24 overs.

A brilliant win for the Sunday side as they added another 20 points to their total for the season.

Andy Quinlan’s side sit sixth in Lincs Sunday League Division Two and will battle to stay in the league for another year.
