Steve Forbes and Andy Ward were crowned Market Rasen Golf Club’s Winter League champions after beating Jeff Portlock and Dave Gregory to the title.
Nick Fenwick and Pate Langford, and Tim Brumpton with Rick Wheeler came up just short in the semi-finals.
In other men’s competition, the Jones Trophy was lifted by Gordon Harrison after a round of nett 62. He finished four clear of Ian Ribey who took second place on countback from Paul baker.
The best gross prize went to Les Brumpton for his score of 77.
* The Timms Cup, a bogey competition, went to John Pickering with a score of 7-up.
The next three all finished on 4-up as runner-up John Vernam pushed Rick Sandham and Matt Jackson into third and fourth respectively. Richard Albon (3-up) completed the top five.
* Golfers had to battle very wet conditions as they competed for the Topliss Cup on Sunday.
Rob Hainsworth’s score of nett 69 was enough to win the medal competition by one stroke from Jacob Morley and Andy Platt who were second and third respectively with 70.
Neil Carmichael (71) finished fourth, while Roy Knowles had the best score of 75.
