Market Rasen Angling: Appleyard lands charity cup honours

On Sunday, Market Rasen Angling Association staged their annual charity match as members fished for the Renal Cup.

Half of the match fees were donated to Lincoln Hospital’s Renal Unit with 10 anglers making the 8am draw.

The match began in warm weather conditions which continued throughout the day with occasional light rain showers.

The all-in shout came at 9am, and after six hours of fishing, it was Dave Appleyard, fishing the pole from peg two, who took the honours.

His winning weight of 9lb 2oz was just a few ounces heavier than second-placed angler Andy who landed 8lb 11oz from peg 24, fishing the waggler and feeder.

The final pay-out spot was claimed by Stuart Cash who fished the feeder from peg nine to land a weight of 6lb 12oz.

The anglers return to their Jackson Buildbase Summer Aggregate matches with match two, and the first Thursday evening match will be held on June 4.

This will be quickly followed by match three in the aggregate series on Sunday, June 7.

Any members wishing to fish will be made welcome.
