ANGLING: Humphreys masters the conditions to take Market Rasen league lead

With strong westerly winds blowing, 15 Market Rasen Angling Association members turned out for the 8.30am draw for the 5th Leg of the Keyline Winter League and also the 1st round of the Winter Knockout Shield.

All of the anglers were expecting a difficult match due to the recent unsettled weather conditions and this was exactly what happened throughout the match with bites being very scarce for the full five hours.

When the all out was called, surprisingly all of the anglers had caught, but it was Dave Humphreys fishing off peg 9 with the feeder that won the match, weighing in with 6lb 5oz.

Barry De’Ath with 3lb 14oz took second place from peg 13 fishing the feeder. The final podium place was taken by Jon Sellars fishing the pole from peg 18 with 2lb 2oz.

Dave Humphreys now sits on top of the league with 14 points from Roy Bentley with 12 points.

Eight anglers progressed to the quarter finals of the Winter Knockout Shield which will be fished alongside the next winter league match.

The 6th leg of the Keyline Winter League will be fished Sunday January 18, any club members wishing to fish will be made welcome, simply turn up for the draw at 8.30am
