Tom was struggling with set up on his Honda and experienced a difficult qualifying session.

He started the first race on Saturday from the sixth row and although it would be difficult to catch the front runners he made progress through to 10th place on the penultimate lap and held station to the chequered flag.

He had recorded some fast lap times in the race which meant he started the second race on Sunday from the second row.

He said: “Well, we made the best of a bad job in today’s race.

“But we did enough to secure a second row start for (Sunday’s) race, which might make things a little easier.”

As the lights went out Tom got a good start but on lap two he had to take evasive action to avoid a fallen rider and dropped back to 10th place.

He became embroiled in a battle for eighth place with places exchanged throughout the remainder of the race, but once again crossed the finish line in 10th position.

He said: “It’s been a testing weekend Oulton Park, it’s safe to say luck and time just wasn’t on our side.

“But we now head back to Donington Park where we won last time so I’ll do my best to try and bridge that gap to the championship lead.

“Thanks as always to Honda Racing UK and all my sponsors and supporters.”

Tim started the first race from the second row and settled into fifth on lap three which he maintained throughout the remainder of the race.

Starting the second race from the second row once again this time Tim was up with the leaders and challenging for third place for most of the 14 laps. But he was unable to make a pass and began to drop back away from the three leading riders although he maintained his fourth place to the chequered flag.

He said: “I am really happy with fifth and fourth in this weekend’s races; I always knew this weekend would be a tough one for me but we kept working and improving in every session.”

The next race is at Donington Park on October 2-4.
