BOXING Day horse racing at Market Rasen – it is as much a part of the festive season as turkey, mince pies and mulled wine.
A crowd of 10,000 people will be at the racecourse for its traditional Christmas racing fixture.
And the racecourse and racing fans are keeping their fingers crossed that it is third time lucky as the severe winter weather in 2009 and 2010 claimed the most popular meeting of the year.
And you can enjoy the Boxing Day racing free if you are lucky enough to be among the winners in our racing competition.
The Market Rasen Mail has teamed up with the racecourse to offer three lucky readers a pair of County Enclosure badges each on Monday, December 26.
Market Rasen Racecourse managing director Pip Kirkby said: “We are looking forward to a great day - which is such a part of Lincolnshire’s Christmas celebrations.
“We’re in no way counting any chickens, but the longer term weather forecast is encouraging. Certainly a lot more encouraging than in 2009 and 2010.
“It’s been very disappointing for two years, especially for the many thousands of people who like to come along to the Boxing Day horse races every year, but we are optimistic and making plans for a great day’s racing.”
