Former Caistor Grammar School student Alex Bowman is going to represent the UK at the Western Australian Tetrathlon Games in July for the Pony Club.

The tetrathlon is made up of shooting, swimming, running and riding.

Alex, previous UK champion, will be joined by four other team members.

He has been riding since the age of 12 and regularly swims and trains at Scunthorpe Anchor Club.

“I am very excited about the trip,” said the 22-year-old, who is now a veterinary student at Nottingham University.

“I am at the Blue Cross in Grimsby at the moment and I manage to fit in running before work and swimming in the evening each day.

“When I qualify next year, I would like to do surgical work and I would love to be chief vet at the Burghley Horse Trials.”
