A TENNIS tournament with a twist has taken place in Tealby.

Tealby Tennis Club has held its first Strawberry Red Mini Tennis Doubles Tournament – involving 15 adult and child pairs.

All matches were played on a mini red court and participants all entered into the spirit of
the event by wearing something red.

Everyone who took part enjoyed a strawberry tea and the finalists received strawberry-themed prizes.

The pairs competed in three leagues with the winners and the best runner-up pair
contesting the semi finals and final.

League winners were Lloyd and Shona Buck, Oliver and Rachel Gladwin, and Hannah and Angela Hunt, and the best runners-up were Wilf and Freddie Marris.

Tennis club member Joy Purkiss said: “The final was a very close-fought affair, Wilf and Freddie Marris defeating Oliver and Rachel Gladwin by one point.”

She said everybody is already looking forward to next year’s event.

The club welcomes new members of all ages and standards.
