Tealby Tennis Club ladies welcomed Nettleham ladies to the club on Sunday for the third summer veterans fixture of the season.
In the first rubber, the strong Tealby pairing of Joy Purkiss and Jane Martin shaded a close first set against Katy Dines and Sue Guy, eventually taking it 6-4 before going on to win the second set 6-1.
Sarah Buckley and Izzy Vincent made up the second Tealby pairing and in their first rubber faced Jan Thornes and Eileen Rowlett.
They started slowly and played tentatively, but came through to win the first set 6-4.
Sarah and Izzy then hit their stride and made short work of the second set, taking it 6-0.
After a short break, Tealby ladies swapped courts and Jane and Joy took on Jan and Eileen in a good game.
The score did not really reflect the efforts of the Nettleham pair as Joy and Jane won 6-0, 6-0.
Over on court one, Sarah and Izzy had lapsed, and found themselves down in the first set with Sue and Katy eventually taking it 6-3.
After giving themselves a talking-to, the Tealby pair managed to improve their play and went on to win three straight games, coming through to clinch the second set 6-2.
In the third tie-break set, the Tealby ladies got their noses ahead from the start and won it 10-4 to seal an excellent 4-0 victory for the hosts.
* Tealby Tennis Club’s under 10s continued their winning streak in the 2015 Aegon team Summer Tennis League with a win at home over Stamford Tennis Club.
There was a real sense of team spirit among the whole Tealby team of Albany Peplinski, Sam Taylor, Charles Fox, Jack Nelstrop, Harry Peplinski and Ben Vickers.
They all played extremely well in this match despite some very windy conditions to record an excellent result.
Each member of the team first played a singles match followed by doubles, and for some it was their first taste of under 10s mini green tennis.
