Market Rasen Table Tennis Club played host to 20 youngsters from across Lincolnshire for a full-day county training session at De Aston Sports Centre.

All the players were recommended by their coaches for the County Development Squad.

The session was led by Bryn Tyler, assisted by Sylvia Tyler and Jim Harris, all UKCC qualified coaches.

In the morning various regular and irregular exercises were practised.

After lunch, they took part in a tournament to find out how much table tennis talent was in the county for the future, when the county will have two junior teams and two cadet teams in the County Championships.

The Market Rasen Junior Table Tennis Club coaches every Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.15pm during term time and welcomes new members.

De Aston School now has table tennis on its curriculum, so the club has had a lot of new enthusiastic young people taking up this sport.

There is a lot of competition between schools coming aboard in the future and already the Club runs two Cadet teams and one Junior team in a National league competition run locally.

“Our members are very competitive and their enthusiasm for competition is amazing; they deserve their success,” said Sylvia Tyler, Lincolnshire Coaching Officer.

The club also runs a community group session for all ages every Thursday evening from 8pm to 10pm in De Aston Sports Centre.
