Market Rasen and Louth Rugby Club were entertained by former Bath, England and British and Irish Lions prop Gareth Chilcott at their annual player’s dinner held recently at their Willingham Road clubhouse.
Gareth regaled many humorous tales relating to his 400 plus caps at Bath, his six-year spell as an international player between 1984-1990 and his experiences as a Lion facing the Australians in 1989.
He also presented awards at the event including:
1st XV Player of the season – Christian Mills
Most improved Player – Mattie Ashton
Chris Knight Young Player of the season – Jake Pryer
2nd XV Player of the season – Ross Jaw Barr
3rd XV Player of the season – Andrew Neesham
Club person – Sandra Pace for her tireless efforts on the Rase It committee among many other things.
John Reynolds trophy for the club’s top man – Chris Janney
A special recognition was also made for the achievements of Zak Poole in his selection for the Leicester Tigers Academy and recent performance the U16 England Red Rose side that defeated England Lions 19-14 in the BMW Wellington Festival.
