IN high temperatures and clear blue skies, Market Rasen and District Golf club ladies, well equipped with sun screen and water, took part in the hotly contested Ping Better Ball competition.
A large field of competitors took part in the competition, which was won by Wendy Harrison and Pauline Neal with 41 points.
Bridget Holmes and Aileen Sellars also came in with a score of 41, but after a count back on the final 9 holes, they were awarded second place, with Lorna Moore and Tilly Lawrence in third place on 39 points.
Last Wednesday, June 6, the Grannies were on the course competing for the Wilson Trophy.
In 1972, Ethel Wilson presented the Wilson Trophy to the club especially for the Grannies and the competition is run in conjunction with an EWGA Medal.
There were 35 entries and 3 players gained a nett score of 75.
Following count backs on the final 9 holes, the results were; first place Mel Gregory, winning her second trophy of the season, second was Lorna Moore and third place went to Wendy Harrison. In fourth place with a nett score of 76 was Chris Bean.
In the EWGA Medal, in first place was Mel Gregory with 102, nett 75.
The best gross score in the silver division was returned by Bridget Holmes (Ladies Captain) with 89, nett 77.
The best gross score in the bronze division was achieved by Lorna Moore with 99, nett 75. In second place was Chris Bean on 93, nett 76, and third Ann Dods on 108, nett 78.
