AN unusual new competition format was introduced to the Market Rasen and District Golf club Ladies this month – a card game.

Each lady was allocated a particular suit – hearts, diamonds or clubs – before playing, with teams consisting of three golfers, whose score counted was revealed on the green as displayed by playing cards and plenty of jokers were required.

The winning players were Lorna Moore, Ann Todd and Margaret Dixon, with a net score of 139.

Second place went to Jackie Parker, Jenny Holborn and Sharman Scott, with a net score of 150, and in third were Ruth Anyan, Di Newton and Gill Kent with net 157.

After the card game, Sue Lambert prepared and delivered an extremely entertaining and informative Golf rules quiz. It proved to be great fun and enjoyed by all the Ladies, testing their knowledge of the complex rules of golf.

Bridget Holmes, Jenny Brundle and Hefina Brumpton proved their expertise by winning the quiz.

The following week, the ladies played the first qualifying Stableford competition of the season. Carol Mann won with 38 points, Vera Allard was second with 37 points and Gill Kent was third with 35 points.

Both Carol and Vera have had their handicaps reduced by one shot.
