Bishop Norton and District Short Mat Bowls League

ALL league matches are now completed.

Middle Rasen Drax are the Southern champions; they went away to play Bishop Norton Yellow and were badly beaten 10-0, but since then have beaten Blyton at home 10-0.

Reepham had their last match to play at Hibaldstow and narrowly lost 6-4 and failed to overtake Drax.

The night after Bishop Norton Yellow beat Drax, they played against Glentworth at home and very surprisingly lost 10-0, but they beat Hibaldstow at home 10-0 and their Green team had a home win of 8-2 against Ingham.

Reepham played Ingham away and managed to win 6-4, but this was little help for their championship hopes.

Middle Rasen Tupholme met Cherry Willingham at home and could only beat them 6-4.

Blyton and Ingham will join the two Northern teams in the bottom four competition in September.

Trentside are the Northern champions having beaten Scawby Orange 10-0 at home and Barnetby Blue 8-2 at home.

Barnetby Red had two 6-4 wins, one at home to Scawby Blue and the other away to South Kelsey Blue. They have also beaten South Kelsey Red away 7-3.

Bottesford Brown had a comfortable 10-0 away win against Barnetby Blue. Scawby Blue had to play away at Elsham and were well beaten 10-0, but Scawby Orange also had to play at Elsham and played in a very close match and narrowly lost 6-4.

Barnetby Blue had a bit of a battle at home against South Kelsey Blue, but won 6-4 and Scawby Orange were victorious at home against Bottesford Green with a 10-0 win.

Waddingham Red lost their last two matches – 8-2 at home to Bottesford Brown and 7-3 at Elsham. Although both Barnetby Blue and Scawby Orange were able to get a few points from matches recently, they are still in the bottom two places and will meet the two Southern teams in the bottom four play off.

The Bishop Norton Plate has been played and was won by Barnetby Red, with Middle Rasen Tupholme finishing in second place.

The league championship match will take place today, Wednesday, at 7.30pm in Bishop Norton village hall, between Middle Rasen Drax and Trentside.
