APART from two downpours, the rain mainly stayed away at Market Rasen Golf Club for Bridget Holmes’ lady captain’s day.
The course was in lush condition, the ground staff having worked hard to keep the course open for the event.
The course played long, due to casual water on the fairways and in bunkers, and many areas were really squelchy underfoot.
In the morning, Bridget organised an 18-hole stableford competition, with 41 ladies taking part, and also a nine hole competition.
All the ladies received a gift from Bridget – a ball marker, golf tees and a chocolate bar.
At the half way house, refreshments and delicious homemade cakes were provided to give sustenance to the competitors.
The 18-hole stableford was won by Chris Bean (17) with 34 points. In second place was Aileen Sellars (19) with 33 points and in third place Liz Wride (15) with 32 points.
The nine-hole competition was won by Jenny Brundle with 19 points and second place went to J Maxey with 11 points.
Additional prizes were given to Rebecca Ross for the nearest drive to the pin on the 5th hole, Nicola Hewson for nearest the pin on the 18th and Sue Archer for the straightest drive on the 6th.
In the afternoon a Texas scramble was won by Nicola Hewson, Lorna Moore and Amanda Osborne. In second place were Rebecca Ross, Margaret Rylatt and Joan Zealand, with third place going to Sue Archer, Gill Kent and Vera Allard.
The A team have completed all their matches and recent results have been: A League v Holme Hall (away) won 3-1; A League v Elsham (away) won 4-0. In total four matches have been won, one lost and one drawn.
The friendly match against Holme Hall was cancelled due to the weather, so a friendly indoor putting competition was held and Holme Hall were the victors.
