MARKET Rasen flat jockey Duran Fentiman had his seventh winner this season when he steared Liberty Island home for trainer Ian Semple before a sell out 9,000 Scottish Ladies Day crowd at Musselburgh on Friday.
The win for the 4-1 shot came in a competitive nine horse race, the jockey getting his charge up by a length.
Liberty Island was ridden by Fentiman in the colours of Highland Racing, and took division one of the Jenners and Frasers Handicap for Strathaven trainer Ian Semple. This was only the horse’s second run for the Scottish trainer since the horse was brought over from Ireland.
After his best ever turf season last year the former De Aston School student has had mixed fortunes since the 2012 season opened in late March at Doncaster.
Fentiman also had a third on the Musselbugh card on the 28-1 shot Stags Leap trained by Dianne Sayer who has had winners at two recent jump meetings at Market Rasen.
Fentiman is the second stable jockey behind David Allen at the prestigious Tim Easterby Habton Grange stables at Malton in North Yorkshire.
He was initially an apprentice jockey with the yard and in 2009 he became a senior jockey after riding over 95 winners.
