Sue Borthwick was crowned Market Rasen Golf Club’s new ladies’ champion last Wednesday with a superb performance over 36 holes.
Rounds of 85 and 90 earned Sue the Harmsworth Trophy with an aggregate score of 175, five shots clear of runner-up Bridget Holmes (86+94=180).
Ann Todd completed the top three with a score of 91+91=182.
The nett competition for the Sargent Salver was won by Helen Grinham after rounds of 75 and 73 gave her a 148 aggregate, just edging out Aileen Sellars (77+72=149) into second place by a single shot.
Tilly Lawrence was third with 74+77=151.
The morning’s gross prize went to Jade Baker for her round of 91, and the afternoon prize went to Sue Archer (92).
The nett prizes were won by Sally White (74) and Sharman Scott who carded 72 in the afternoon.
* Di Warburton secured the Starbuck Trophy with a round of 94-20=74.
Rhona Bradford was second with 106-31=75 and third-place went to Bridget Wright (111-36=75), while Sylvia Mowbray’s 90 was the lowest gross score.
* The summer-long singles matchplay arrived at their final stages, and Ruth Anyan claimed the Manda Cup after defeating Jackie Parker in the final.
Earlier, Ann Todd and Helen Grinham were beaten in the semi-finals.
