There was a tight finish to Market Rasen Golf Club’s Rover Cup last week with just two shots covering the top four.
Five-handicapper Jacob Morley won the 18-hole medal competition with a nett round of 66, taking the cup by one shot from eight-handicapper Chris Osbourne.
Countback had to be used to separate Chris from third-placed John Vernam after both carded scores of nett 67, while Charlie Hinchliffe was a shot further adrift in fourth place.
Paul Baker took home the prize for best gross score after his 75.
* The husband and wife team of Gaff and Liz Elliott took the honours at the Phillips Family Foursomes.
The Elliotts, who were given a handicap of 13.5, won with a nett round of 72.5, two shots ahead of runners-up Dave and Hilary Tuhey.
Richard and Bridget Holmes won the best gross prize after a round of 92.
* The club’s junior section, meanwhile, played for the Spyvee Cup last Wednesday.
The 18-hole stableford competition produced another close finish as Harry Curtis edged out Ryan Bond on countback, both accumulating 40 points from their round.
