Ladies championship

Market Rasen and District Golf Club Ladies hosted the Lincolnshire Ladies County Golf Association Senior championships.

The 45 competitors played whilst dodging heavy showers, but visitors enjoyed playing the course and complimented the green staff on its condition.

The ladies were competing for the Kathie Craigs Silver Salver awarded to the best gross score and the winner was Dianne Platt from Spalding, with a gross score of 81.

The runner up was Andree Burtt from Woodhall Spa, with gross 85, and in third place was Birdie Dawson from Kenwick Park, gross 86.

Market Rasen Ladies took advantage of playing on their home turf and took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Joan Payling Silver Salver Nett competition.

The winner was Jane Salt, nett 75 , back nine 45; the runner up was Jenny Holborn, nett 75, back nine 48 and in third place Sue Borthwick with nett 77.

Jenny Holborn and Rebecca Ross played an impeccable round and returned a creditable score of 35 points to win the Coronation foursomes the previous week.

They will go forward and represent the club in the next round to be played in York.
