Brigg Hockey Club Mens 1st team had a double header with Lincoln Roses at the weekend.

First the two sides played a North League encounter at Lincoln University, which the home side won 2-0 despite Brigg turning in their best performance of the season.

Lincoln took the lead in the early stages but Brigg fought back very strongly creating and then missing some excellent chances, especially in the early stages of the second half.

As so often happens, the home side then doubled their lead against the run of play and held on until full time. Colin Lattimore in goal made some fine saves for Brigg.

On Sunday the same two sides met in the HA Trophy, a national competition. This time it was Brigg who had the edge.

They took the lead in the first half through Andrew Morris, who converted after good work from Harry Cadwallader.

Roses soon got back on terms before Josh Kirk got Brigg’s second with some good work by improving striker Nick Sharp.

After an even first half Brigg took control in the second period with Ben Treagold dominating at centre midfield. Treagold got Brigg’s winner late in the game following a penalty corner to send them through to the next round.

Brigg Mens 2nds won 6-2 against Lincoln Roses 2nd, the 3rd team defeated Doncaster 5th 2-1 while the 4th team lost 5-2 to Garforth from Leeds.
