Brigg Hockey Club men’s First XI put in a decent performance when they travelled to play Leeds Seconds in North League Division Two.

The well resourced club, with eight teams, just won the day by a single-goal margin. Leeds opened brightly and took the lead when a short corner shot hit David Jollands on the line, resulting in a penalty stroke which was duly converted.

Brigg rallied and forced several decent saves from the home keeper, while Andrew Reid saw a shot go just past the post.

The second half was an even affair, but Brigg could not quite get the goal their efforts deserved.

* Brigg men’s Seconds drew 5-5 at home to City of York. Braces from Mark Skinner, who was always dangerous in and around the opposition circle, and Andrew Norris, allied to Andrew Morris’ strike were on target for Brigg.

Brigg men’s third team lost 4-1 to Rotherham.

* Brigg ladies’ first team lost 2-3 to Leeds Seconds despite having the edge in possession throughout, while Brigg ladies’ second team went down 0-2 to Sheffield University Bankers.
